Original Papers Relating to the Expedition to Panama.
£950 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd
A valuable sammelband of three works concerning Admiral Edward Vernon’s (1684-1757) exploits in the Caribbean and South American in the early 1740s when England was at war with Spain. In a two-year period, Vernon led attacks on Cartagena, Panama, and Santiago on the south coast of Cuba. These expeditions were unsuccessful but left Vernon’s reputation - based on his capture of Porto Bello in 1739 - largely intact.
