Journal of the Expedition to Carthagena, with notes.

£250 · Offered by Maggs Bros Ltd

A very good copy. Commencing in Jamaica on 10 January, 1740 and concluding on 16 April, this is a “defense of the conduct of the army in the expedition, and hence attributed by some to General Wentworth, who was in command of the land forces” (Sabin). The ten page appendix discusses the mistakes in the pamphlet attributed to Charles Knowles. Halkett and Laing attribute authorship to Tobias G. Smollett. Sabin, 102632 .
