Mexico City Blues. First edition, first printing, of Kerouac's first book of poems. This is a review copy, with the publisher's review slip and a copy of the subsequent and gently damning review loosely inserted. The anonymous reviewer has underlined several lines of text and pencilled their notes to the rear blank. Kerouac's "242 Choruses", were written between 1954 and 1957.This copy is in the correct black and white jacket (the bibliographer Charters incorrectly calls for a jacket "printed in red, green, and black", these being the colours of the wrappers issue and of later dust jackets).
