Indian Expeditionary Force “D” was the first unit to arrive in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) from India in November 1914. This card was made for the servicemen to send home during the Christmas of 1915, with printed greetings (this example signed from ‘Cecil’) and a satirical poem: “Greetings from Mesopotamia, Your knowledge of which should shame yer” and so on.
