A scarce offprint from the PROCEEDINGS OF THE GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY for November 1861, relating the results of a geological survey taken during the Palliser expedition of 1857-60. The folding map depicts the topography of the southern part of British North America west to the Pacific, east to Lake Superior, and south to just over the boundary with the United States. Hector and Vaux had co-written NOTICE OF THE INDIANS SEEN BY THE EXPLORING EXPEDITION..., published in the TRANSACTIONS of the Ethnology Society of London in 1861. Five copies recorded by OCLC.
