Carrie's War. First edition, first impression, presentation copy to a fellow author, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "Jill, Nina, With love". The recipient, Jill Paton Walshe, published her own children's novel inspired by her experiences as an evacuee, Fireweed, in 1969.Carrie's War, influenced by Bawden's evacuation to Wales, received the Phoenix Award in 1993. The first edition is now scarce, especially signed.
