EXTRAIT DES MINUTES DÉPOSÉES AUX ARCHIVES DE L'ASSEMBLÉE PROVINCIALE PROVISOIREMENT ADMINISTRATIVE DU SUD [caption title]. A rare item printed at Cayes on the southwestern peninsula of the island of Saint Domingue, in the Southern Department. The text contains a long and voluble address from the colons who are arming themselves to fight the insurgency in the southern province. Lemery was the official printer to the Southern Department, established there in 1789. Little is known about early printing in the Caribbean, and most of the scholarship to date centers on the English colonies. There was, however, a wide array of printers in Saint Domingue from the 1780s through the revolution. About twenty items in OCLC by this printer at Cayes. This item not in OCLC.
