A lovely Russian edition of the French folk tale famously popularised by Charles Perrault and first published by Barbin in Paris in 1697. It was first published in Russian with other Perrault's tales translated by Ivan Turgenev in 1866 under the title "Волшебные сказки Перро" [Magical Tales by Perrault]. This pre-Revolutionary edition is illustrated with impressive chromolithographs by the Russian artist Sergei Ploshinskii. 4to (26 x 26.5 cm). 19 pp., including title, with multiple chromolithographed illustrations after Sergei Ploshinskii; some light spotting to title. Publisher's pictorial boards; rubbed, corners bumped.
